SUPPORTING LEADERSHIP IN LOCAL COMMUNITIES

One of Be Present, Inc.’s central tenets is the importance of developing leadership and systems of support locally and to connect local communities to a vibrant regional and national network engaged in the work of social justice. We recognize and honor the important work that is happening in many communities throughout the country and offer the Be Present Empowerment Model as a tool for dialogue, learning and practice in addressing the impact of race, gender, class and power issues on personal and collective well-being, effectiveness and sustainability.

SUSTAINING LEADERSHIP IN NATIONAL NETWORK

Be Present, Inc. has four established Regional Organizing Core Groups – Atlanta in the South; New York/New Jersey and Philadelphia in the Northeast; and San Francisco Bay Area in the West. Emerging network areas include Colorado, Santa Cruz, San Diego, Los Angeles, Reno/Tahoe and Las Vegas in the West; Seattle and Portland in the Pacific Northwest; Chicago in the Midwest; and Washington, DC in the Northeast.

Regional Organizing Core Group members receive intensive facilitators’ training to strengthen their leadership skills and work through organizational issues and group dynamics while organizing events and building partnerships in their local communities. Additionally, Regional Organizing Core Group members come together on an annual basis for a National Network Leadership Convening to receive the next level of training, share best practices and develop strategies for next steps.
